General Mariano Alvarez, commonly known as GMA, is a highly urbanized and close-knit municipality in Cavite. Formerly part of Carmona, it was named after General Mariano Alvarez, a revolutionary leader and founder of the Magdiwang Council of the Katipunan. The municipality is also locally recognized for mushroom production and community-based enterprises.
