Markup is how much you add on top of cost. Use it to set retail prices quickly, then check the equivalent profit margin so you do not confuse the two.

Markup % = (Selling Price − Cost) ÷ Cost × 100. Selling Price = Cost × (1 + Markup%/100).
Because markup is divided by a smaller number (cost). Example: cost ₱100, sell ₱150 → markup 50%, margin 33.33%.
